About the department


The Department of Criminology at Bar-Ilan University was founded in 1961. The program was expanded in 1977 making it possible to study Criminology as either a major or a minor discipline towards a B.A. degree. Today the Department also offers an M.A program and a Doctoral (Ph.D.) program. Altogether there are currently more than 700 students studying Criminology at the University, 130 of whom are studying for an M.A. degree and 35 for a Ph.D.The department is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of lecturers from a diversity of fields: Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Psychiatry and Law.
