About the department

The Department of Criminology at Bar-Ilan University is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of lecturers from a diversity of fields: Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Psychiatry, Neuro-criminology and Law. The B.A. program offers a dual-major track. The M.A offers 4 tracks:  Clinical Criminology, Clinical Criminology  with a specialisation in Victimology , Criminal Investigative Interviewing , and Neurocriminology . The department offers also a Doctoral (Ph.D.) program.

BA  program:

The BA study program aims to provide a thorough and deep base in the study of criminology. The degree includes introductory courses in Criminology, Sociology, Psychology and Penal theory (theories of punishment). In addition, the degree includes a deeper examination of topics related to criminology including juvenile delinquency, sex crimes, gender and crime, aggression, crime and criminality, criminal careers, psychpathology, psychoneurological aspects of crime, discrimination, drug use, morality, victimology and more. Within the framework of the degree you will have a chance to do your own research and to write an independent research paper.

MA study tracks:

Criminal Investigative Interviewing Track offers the opportunity of a specific specialization in investigative interviewing. The studies provide in-depth theoretical and applied knowledge regarding information elicitation and information evaluation, the two main components of investigative interviewing.

Neurocriminology Track offers students exposure to cutting-edge knowledge in human behavioral science, examining criminal and antisocial behaviors from neurobiological and neurocognitive viewpoints.

Clinical Criminology program is a discipline which is recognized by the Ministry of Health. It has expanded out from the confines of the clinics of the prison services to become part of various health and rehabilitation institutions.

Victimology track in the clinical criminology program, provide students with a comprehensive and in-depth knowledge which combines theory, research, practice, and experience in the field.

PhD studies:

Advanced PhD studies aim to educate students in various areas of criminology and empirical science. Our students develop depth and breadth of expertise in criminology.
